This turned out to be an extremely worthwhile image for me. It really sums up the image of a UK wreck Diver. It won the Sport Diver Professional image of the year in 2007.

 

I was buddied with the diver in the picture, but purely for looking at the wreck. Re any diver wreck images I had to take the opportunity when it presented itself. On the dive I passed numerous divers and obtained some good shots but this one stands out from the crowd. I noted the diver finning out of the restrictive doorway and gestured that I would like to take an image. I got OK’s all round so I dropped down below the doorway while the diver finned out through it. This took some time, as it was a restrictive opening. This gave me time to fire of half a dozen images when I thought the action was at its best. I liked how the diver looked along his torchlight, looking at another part of the wreck and deciding to go off and explore in that direction.

 

Its almost impossible in UK waters to get a whole shipwreck in the frame so working within the conditions available and taking the opportunity when the promise of a good image presented itself has resulted in an interesting UK Wreck Diver Shot.
